A Bathing Ape (BAPE)
From its humble beginnings in 1993, A Bathing Ape (more commonly known as Bape) has risen to the pinnacle of the streetwear industry, becoming a widely recognised brand worldwide. A man by the name of Tomoaki Nagao (Nigo) decided to bring his innovative spirit and creativity to life, in the form of clothing. Nagao set up shop in Harajuku - Tokyo, Japan, under the name “NOWHERE”, alongside Jun Takahashi (the founder of Undercover). This is where the now icon of a brand, Bape, was born. Since its inception, the brand has released countless classics such as the Bapesta sneakers (see the top 10 list here), seasonal eMook magazine accessories, and a plethora of collaborations with icons such as KAWS.
