From its humble beginnings in 1993, A Bathing Ape (more commonly known as BAPE) has risen to the pinnacle of the streetwear industry, becoming a widely recognised brand worldwide. A man by the name of Tomoaki Nagao (Nigo) decided to bring his innovative spirit and creativity to life, in the form of clothing. Nagao set up shop in Harajuku - Tokyo, Japan, under the name “NOWHERE”, alongside Jun Takahashi (the founder of Undercover). This is where the now iconic brand, BAPE, was born.
